Acupuncture for STRESS and ANXIETY
We've all experienced stress at some point in our lives. These feelings are a normal and healthy rersponse to inevitable events that happen to us ... but sometimes stress appears in an unhealthy manner...
When we are healthy, stress is short-lived and manageable, we recover from it quickly and easily without incurring too much wear on our health.
However, when stress is extreme, or if it lasts a long time, it has a very high cost on both our emotional and physical health (as it is inevitable that our physical body does not suffer the emotional problems in which we are immersed).
For me, it is very common to meet people who come to my clinic and are not aware of the stress and anxiety that accumulate in their body and how related this is with their physical problems. The pity is that most of the time we do not realize what we are suffering on an emotional level until we suffer serious physical or mental problems.
WHAT HAPPENS IF WE DO NOT TREAT THESE PROBLEMS ?
The constant state of stress and anxiety results in paying a GREAT PRICE. Cortisol (hydrocortisone- the stress hormone in the body), rises, increasing blood pressure, suppressing our immune function. Over time, these symptoms may worsen and convert into anxiety, states of depression and discouragement, fatigue, digestive problems, headaches and tension, insomnia, spasms, ...
Emotions from a Chinese medicine perspective

In Chinese medicine, stress, anxiety, depression, strong emotions, or any emotion maintained over time, creates a disruption in the body's energy system.
According to the theory of Chinese medicine, energy flows throughout our body through a network of " roads ", almost like a highway. Stress, anger, or any intense emotion acts like a traffic jam, blocking the free flow of energy in the body.
For example, many of the people who come to my clinic who are extremely stressed, complain of pain in the upper back, shoulder and neck. This is because stress is blocking the normal flow of energy in these areas, causing pain, stiffness, and often headaches.
In a road or highway network, when there is an accident or it is under construction, the traffic is usually redirected to a secondary circulation network ... this also happens in the body's energy system and this is why stress affects many other parts of the body. Above all, digestion, sleep, bodily pain, blood pressure, immune system, hair loss, ... stress can also aggravate existing health problems.
With acupuncture we can release these energy blockages. Acupuncture points serve as ramps to release energy blockages and work to achieve a natural flow of energy in our bodies.
AND WHAT IS MORE IMPORTANT IS NOT ONLY TO RELIEVE SYMPTOMS, BUT TREATING ANXIETY AND STRESS, FREEING YOU FROM THEM.
From a viewpoint of Western medicine, acupuncture works because it relieves stress which triggers the release of natural painkillers by the brain called endorphins. In addition, acupuncture improves the circulation of blood throughout the body, improves tissue oxygenation and releases cortisol and other waste chemicals in our bodies. The relaxing nature of acupuncture also decreases heart rate, reduces blood pressure, and relaxes the muscles.
Acupuncture is a wonderful option which is quick and highly effective from the first session, whether you suffer from one or various problems.
